Claim stats
From our experience at least 10% of all transits generate claims above the excess level.
This is especially so for goods shipped internationally. The majority of claims occur from goods being damaged through poor packaging, handling and storage, with a significant number of claims also affecting goods moved within NZ. Even reputable international removal firms are not immune from causing damage. We recently experienced a total constructive loss for which the full sum insured of NZ$250,000 was paid out. Another claim in 2009 represented around 85% of the total sum insured. These figures demonstrate why individuals, families and businesses need moving insurance for their household goods or general cargo in transit, to protect them from perils that accompany anything being moved to another location.
