In 2004, after a long career in insurance broking, Peter Garrett (Founding Director) saw a need to simplify the provision of cargo insurance, whilst at the same time making it cheaper and easier to access than conventional means.

The concept of providing simple and cost effective cargo insurance locally and internationally online became a reality on 2 March 2005, with the official launch of ezimove.com Limited, although the site had been live since December 2004.  It was the first business to consumer online insurer in Australasia, of household goods, vehicles and general cargo in transit, within NZ and internationally.

Early 2006, Peter and Jane Garrett sold their insurance brokerage in order to concentrate on developing and growing ezimove.  Early in 2007, the website was re-developed from scratch to enable significant new benefits to be added and make it easier to navigate.

The mark two website went live on 3 May 2007, and as well as accepting payment by Visa and Mastercard, a direct crediting  facility has been added.  Specialist policies for "livestock in transit in NZ" and "fresh/chilled/frozen product" are also new to our range of insurances available.
